Partner
With nearly 20 years of experience, Katie is a partner at James Moore and dedicates a majority of her time serving higher education institutions, collegiate athletic departments, foundations and other university-related organizations. She leads the firm’s Higher Education and Collegiate Athletics industry teams, which serve more than 100 higher education organizations (including 40+ athletic departments) nationwide. She is an active member in CABMA and NACUBO.
Katie’s work in higher education goes beyond traditional accounting services. As a thought leader and valued advisor in the industry, she drives discussions on the issues faced by colleges and universities nationwide. Her passion is in the collegiate athletics niche, and she is nationally recognized as an advocate for the financial voices in the business of college sports. She co-hosts the firm’s News & Brews Sports Biz podcast series and makes regular appearances on other industry broadcast programs and publications. Katie works closely with her clients and enjoys bringing solutions to them that improve their operations and redirect their limited resources to the things that matter most. Certified in Lean Six Sigma, she helps her clients create efficient, thorough and sustainable systems for long-term success.
Daniel Shorstein, CGFM, CPA
President, Digital
Daniel Shorstein brings over 20 years of leadership in accounting, internal controls and technology to James Moore Digital, where he will drive innovation through automation, AI and data analytics. His extensive background includes his most recent role as vice president of product management at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he pioneered generative AI (GenAI) solutions for financial accounting, audit readiness, and internal controls.
This position marks a homecoming for Daniel, who previously worked as a Senior Accountant at James Moore & Company from 2005 to 2010. His deep knowledge of accounting, coupled with his passion for leveraging cutting-edge technologies, positions him to lead James Moore Digital in developing innovative, AI-driven products that solve complex challenges for clients.
Daniel holds professional memberships with the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), FICPA (Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants), and AGA (Association of Government Accountants). He is also a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) and a licensed CPA in Florida.
Todd Stanchfield
Manager, Digital
Todd has seven years of experience in unlocking business insights using data analytics and automating mundane and repetitive processes. He is well versed in the process optimization life cycle, including information gathering, solution development, process documentation, technical documentation and productionization.
Todd has spent most of his career in the utility industry, where he worked with various stakeholders to solve unique and challenging data problems. He also has his Alteryx advanced certification.
Kelli Batianis, CPA
Project Manager
Kelli complements the teams she supports on a variety of projects for James Moore’s digital team, from dashboarding and process improvement to technology implementation and integration. She organizes delivery, training, communication, client requests and other aspects of the project flow and delivery.
With 30 years of experience in data, accounting and tax, Kelli brings a wide range of knowledge to the table. She previously held positions at Big 4 accounting firms and in the telecommunications industry. By collaborating extensively with internal groups throughout her career, she can relate to the struggles clients have with breaking down barriers to get information to the people who need it.
Gemma Wallace
Developer
Gemma has 15 years of experience in data analytics and business intelligence. At James Moore, she designs automated data solutions to address client reporting and analysis problems.
Gemma’s focus over the past several years has been on providing data support, analysis and automated reporting to internal and external clients. She is particularly knowledgeable in Alteryx and Regex.
Tyler Hayes
Analyst
A data professional with nearly 10 years of experience, Tyler develops analytics tools used to drive actionable change—from building out data repositories for analysis to dashboarding and delivering those insights to stakeholders. His focus at James Moore is on the development and presentation of dashboards and building predictive machine learning models.
Tyler’s introduction to the BI/analytics industry came while working directly with business clients at another company. The firsthand perspective he received at how analytics can revolutionize and transform business operations gave him a passion for developing these tools for companies that can’t do so internally.
