Katie Davis, CPA Has Been Selected As One Of The Florida Institute of CPAs’ 26 Under 36

James Moore, CPAs  is pleased to announce Katie Davis, CPA has been selected as one of the Florida Institute of CPAs’ (FICPAs’) 26 Under 36. The goal of the initiative is to identify and recognize FICPA members under the age of 36 who have made notable accomplishments through their service to the FICPA, the CPA profession, and their communities.

The selection criteria for the FICPAs’ 26 Under 36 includes the candidates’ professional experience, leadership and entrepreneurship professional credentials. In addition, candidates are evaluated on their participation in FICPA volunteer activities, such as chapter and interest-group involvement; community outreach events, including student and financial-literacy programs; and contributions to media and communication outlets. The FICPA also reviews candidates’ involvement in non-FICPA volunteer activities that enhance the accounting profession as well as participation in charitable activities and civic groups.

Katie is a CPA and senior manager with James Moore, and has more than 10 years of experience in the accounting profession.  She has worked within a variety of industries, performing accounting and auditing services, income tax services, and consulting services to a wide range of clients, including privately held companies, employee benefit plans, and university-related entities subject to governmental reporting requirements.

She plays a pivotal role in developing the firm’s Lean Six Sigma service line, and has demonstrated exceptional leadership while growing the service line through implementation of Lean Six Sigma practices within the firm, providing these services to clients within a variety of industries, contributions to the firm’s Lean Six Solutions blog, and through presentations to various industry groups.

Katie works directly with an organization’s members to evaluate existing processes and identify solutions that eliminate waste while building efficiency and quality into the process. She has applied these approaches for CPA firms, professional services firms, construction, manufacturing, universities, and governmental entities. She effectively facilitates projects that span numerous departments within an organization, involving multiple operational, accounting, and IT processes. Her background in auditing allows her to establish processes with proper internal controls, while her understanding of human resources provides insight on how to best empower employees through training programs.

Katie graduated from the University of Florida where she was awarded a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Katie received her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from The Ohio State University. Katie is a member of the FICPA, American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center, and is a peer reviewer through the AICPA peer review program. Katie is also a member of Junior League of Gainesville and is a graduate of Leadership Gainesville.

Founded in 1905, the FICPA is one of the largest CPA organizations in the U.S. and serves as the association for all CPAs in Florida. The association is comprised of more than 18,500 members.
